PIRELLI CARLISLE RB FOUNDATION RALLY REPORT
The Team headed north to the Carlisle area for the Pirelli Carlisle RB Foundation Rally.
This would be our second event of the year, but just the first on gravel forest tracks. The
rally action took place on the infamous tracks of Kielder Forest and Kershope Forest. A total
of 10 stages were run during the Saturday and Sunday.
The Rally took the form of several events, each competing over a differing number of
stages, some on the Saturday, some on Sunday and some, like the Land Rover Rally,
running on both days.
This was the first Rally since 2011 that all 6 Romeos would compete. Romeo 3 was rebuilt over 2013 with the main work carried out at the Land Rover Owner show in Peterborough. It was an impressive sight to see all 6 lined up and ready go in Carlisle town center.
The Rally as always proved to be a challenging event for both the crews and the vehicles. All the team present were called upon to put in some super human effort to keep all of the Romeos going. This included replacing a blown turbo in just under 16 minutes: a record we are sure!
The finish line was crossed by 5 crews, unfortunately the Kielder forest claimed one more vehicle to uphold its fearsome reputation. Rest assured however that all 6 Romeos and crews will be present for the upcoming Jim Clark Rally at the end of May - we hope to see you there.
